Three physician-supervised therapies that work with your body's own hormonal signals to transform weight, blood sugar, and long-term health.
GLP stands for Glucagon-Like Peptide — a hormone your gut naturally produces in response to eating. It signals your brain to reduce appetite, tells your pancreas to regulate blood sugar, and slows digestion so you feel full longer. GLP therapies are injectable medications that activate these same hormonal pathways, producing results that go far beyond appetite control — including cardiovascular protection, liver health, blood sugar regulation, and significant, sustained fat loss.
At Team Ganas LA, GLP therapy is always paired with strength training and nutrition coaching — because the science is clear that muscle preservation and progressive resistance training are what turn weight loss into body transformation.
The Three Therapies
Semaglutide was the drug that changed everything. As a GLP-1 receptor agonist, it mimics the gut hormone that signals fullness and blood sugar regulation — but at therapeutic doses, it does far more. It reduces appetite at the brain level, slows digestion, and improves insulin sensitivity. Clinical trials showed an average of 15% body weight loss over 68 weeks.
At Team Ganas LA, we compound semaglutide with Vitamins B6 and B12. B6 helps reduce nausea (the most common side effect) and supports neurotransmitter production, while B12 combats the energy dips that can come from caloric restriction — keeping you energized and consistent in your training.
Tirzepatide was the first medication to simultaneously activate two incretin hormone receptors — GLP-1 and GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide). The GIP component amplifies insulin sensitivity, reduces appetite more powerfully than GLP-1 alone, and — importantly — reduces the nausea that GLP-1 monotherapy can cause. The combination produces greater fat loss, better blood sugar control, and improved metabolic markers.
Clinical trials showed 16–22% average weight loss at 72 weeks — substantially more than semaglutide. It also increases adiponectin, a hormone that improves fat metabolism and reduces inflammation. Compounded with B6 and B12 for energy support and reduced side effects.
Retatrutide is the next frontier. It's the world's first GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon triple receptor agonist — meaning it activates three separate hormonal pathways simultaneously. The addition of glucagon receptor agonism is what sets it apart: glucagon receptors are found throughout the liver, and their activation drives direct fat oxidation in liver tissue, dramatically reduces liver fat, and increases metabolic energy expenditure beyond what GLP-1 and GIP alone can achieve.
Phase 2 trials published in the New England Journal of Medicine showed an average of 24.2% body weight loss at 48 weeks — with participants still losing weight when the trial ended, meaning results hadn't plateaued yet. Phase 3 trials are ongoing. At the highest dose, over 90% of participants lost more than 10% of their body weight, and nearly a quarter lost 30% or more.

All GLP therapy at Team Ganas LA is prescribed and supervised by a licensed physician. Semaglutide and tirzepatide are FDA-approved medications; however, the compounded formulations (including B6/B12 additions) are not FDA-approved products and are prepared by licensed compounding pharmacies. Retatrutide is an investigational compound currently in Phase 3 clinical trials and is not yet FDA-approved for any indication.
Weight loss results described on this page are based on published clinical trial data and represent averages across study populations. Individual results vary significantly based on adherence, diet, exercise, baseline health, and other factors. No specific outcome is guaranteed.
GLP therapies may not be appropriate for everyone. Do not begin any GLP therapy if you have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma, multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2, pancreatitis, or severe gastrointestinal disease. These medications may interact with insulin, other GLP-1 therapies, and certain medications. Always disclose your full medication list to your provider.
